During difficult seasons and times, it is of paramount importance that the Body of Christ shares the love of God with people from all people and all ages, as love is best expressed in action.
True to this, Agape Family Care has been working tirelessly to cater for less privileged people all over Zimbabwe that were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. From the first period of lockdown, AFC has been distributing food hampers to people in Harare and other regions in Zimbabwe.
As part of the sustainable food assistance programs, Ruth Emmanuel-Makandiwa through AFC reached out to the community at Lynx Mine in Mashonaland West Province. The people living in this area were in need of a helping hand and a source of hope. Apart from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic with regards to livelihoods and finances, the people living at the mine and the surrounding villages were negatively impacted by the closure of the mine which led to the loss of their jobs. Due to this, this community no longer had a stable and reliable place of employment and income, making life difficult for them.
Inspired by the love of God, AFC distributed food hampers to a targeted number of 200 households with an average of 5 family members per household.
The food hampers included mealie meal, 2 bales of clothing, sugar, rice, cooking oil, sugar beans and laundry soap.
Received with joy and much appreciation, these food hampers from Ruth Emmanuel-Makandiwa brought smiles, joy and relief to this community as they were reminded of how beautiful the love of God is – unconditional.
All COVID-19 regulations and protocols were observed during the distribution.
