Transformed by Love - Agape Beneficiary Testimonial

The natural design of an African family gives most, if not all the responsibility to the husband or the father who is regarded as the head of the family and he has to provide for and feed the family. But in most unfortunate cases; when the breadwinner passes on, the mother and or the children suffer as they are left vulnerable, with no one to provide and protect them.

Such was the unfortunate situation of Gogo Sophia Chitumba (aged 75 years). After her husband passed on, Gogo Chitumba had no one to fight and protect her and her children.

“After my husband died, I struggled a lot. We had a lot of furniture but everything was destroyed by the rain. I struggled a lot.” Gogo Chitumba narrated.

“I used to be chased out of the house and some days, I slept outside in the open which would cause me to fall ill.”

With no one to help her, Gogo Chitumba and her children had no option but to endure it all, but her situation took a worse turn when two of her children passed on, leaving her with a huge family to feed and provide for.

”I gave birth to 5 children; 2 of them passed away and now I am left with 3. After the passing on of my two children, they left behind 9 grandchildren that I had to take care of.” Gogo Chitumba added.

“I used to take left-over food from funerals for me to then eat with the kids and I would cover it up by telling people that I was going to feed it to the chickens but in actual fact it was for us to eat because we didn't have anything.

“I had no clothes; I had only one dress left with me. Even the kids didn’t have anything to wear.”

Due to the hardships that she was through, Gogo Chitumba’s health began to deteriorate. She began experiencing severe pain in her legs and in her back.

“I would spend the whole day lying outside on the house on the veranda, despite the weather, because I couldn’t walk properly. I had severe pain in my legs and in my back.”

Though she was in a very difficult situation, Gogo Chitumba’s story changed after she had was invited by a well-wisher to a UFIC Sunday Service and she had an encounter with Prophet Emmanuel and Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa.

“Whilst we were in the service, I was seated in the overflow and I began to feel a sensation in my legs. It was as if water was flowing in legs and for a moment I thought my clothes were wet but when I checked, they were dry. After that service, I stood up and I noticed a change. The pain in my legs was gone and I was able to walk for a long distance – something I used not to be able to do. I was able to sit up without any pain; I was healed!”

Since that day, Gogo Chitumba’s story changed. She was healed of the pain in her body and on top of that, Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa, through the Agape Family Care, became a channel through which the love of has been, and is still flowing into the life of Gogo Chitumba’s family.

“When I was called by Agape Family Care that I should come and receive groceries, I was so happy.” Gogo Chitumba said.

Gogo Chitumba has been an Agape Family Care beneficiary since 2012. From 2012, Gogo Chitumba receives monthly groceries and rental/ accommodation allowance from Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa through the Agape Family Care.

“I would like to thank Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa. She has a very kind heart and she has concern over orphans and widows.

“I am being taken care of by Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa. I have received blankets, sheets and pillow cases. Now my grandchildren have something to cover themselves with during the night. We no longer lack food in the house.”

Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa also provided scholarships for Gogo Chitumba’s 9 grandchildren through the Agape Family Care’s scholarship program.

“All of my grandchildren’s school fees were paid for by Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa; from uniforms, books, she paid for everything.”

Gogo Chitumba has also received Christmas and Mothers’ Day donations from Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa since 2012. She has also received maize seed and fertilizer for farming from Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa through the Agape Family Care.

“I and my grandchildren no longer knew or celebrated Christmas; it was just like any other day. But after I met Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa, now we celebrate Christmas. We eat, enjoy and rejoice because of her.”

Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa has been a beacon of hope for Gogo Chitumba's family; transforming their lives through God's love.
